How to do CH P Graphing Functions

DUE MONDAY
SEPTEMBER 24, 2012

Choose the labels CH P Graphing Functions and your Name to label your post.

Using your gmail account, create and animate a Google presentation with the following slides. Each slide should have a caption.

Slide 0
Title of project. Include your "about me" character and your math class name on this slide.

Slide 1
Graphing Functions Project Instructions

See the Graphing Functions packet for more information.

For each of the 5 parent functions sketch and write the function in the following colors:

1. Parent Function - black
2. Vertical Translation - red
3. Horizontal Translation - blue
4. Vertical and Horizontal Translation - purple
5. Vertical Reflection - Green
6. Horizontal Reflection - Orange
7. Vertical and Horizontal Translation + Vertical Reflection -brown
8. Vertical and Horizontal Translation + Horizontal Reflection - black

Slide 2 - 6
All 5 pictures of your scanned graphed functions.

Slide 7
Choose one (or more) of parent functions and transformations you graphed on the Graphing Functions Project.

Write down the function(s) and describe what you did using mathematical vocabulary. The following words must be used correctly, and highlighted or boldfaced in your description.

function
transformation
translation
vertical
horizontal
reflection
x-axis
y-axis

Slide 8
Odd functions are functions that are
a. symmetric with respect to the origin and
b. for all x in the domain of f,
f(-x) = f(x)
Identify the odd functions and show they are odd.

Slide 9
Even functions are functions that are
a. symmetric with respect to the y-axis and
b. for all x in the domain of f,
f(-x) = - f(x)
Identify the even functions and show they are even.

Slide 10
Write about the domain of the parent fucntion "the square root of x.
How is this parent function different form the other parent functions?

Slide 11
Back to School Night Extra Credit - Scan your Parent's classwork into your blog. Write a few sentences about what you and your parents thought about learning transformations.

Embed and Resize your Google presentation into blogger.
